Nick Cressy the nephew of the main character; Staff Sergeant Nicholas Bentas mother’s older brother. Military background began as an enlisted member of the U.S. Air Force trained in aircraft weapons and munitions loading from 1971 to 1975, briefly serving in the Michigan Air National Guard from 1977 to 1978. Received a direct commission in the U.S. Army (Reserve) Medical Service Corps from 1991 to retirement in 2012. Served in Vietnam, Thailand, Bahrain, Kuwait, Afghanistan and the Philippines. Retired with the rank of Colonel.
